If you are unemployed and currently receive jobless benefits, they money will keep coming even if the government shuts down.
According to Bill Thoennes, Colorado Office of Government, Policy and Public Relations, “Current claimants who are concerned about a federal shutdown affecting payment of their unemployment benefits need not worry. The U.S. Department of Labor has notified the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment that federal benefits will continue to be paid regardless of a possible government shutdown. In addition, with the insolvency of the Colorado UI Trust Fund, the state will continue to draw down money from the federal government to pay state benefits.”
